Membership

1st Rivertrail Scout Group is open to boys and girls, aged 7-10 for Cubs and 11-17 for Scouts.

There is a waiting list for our Cub group, but we do move through it fairly quickly and we encourage you to get your child's name on the list as soon as possible to avoid disappointment and delays.

Once you have spoken to either the Akela (Cub Group Scouter) or the Troop Scouter (Scouts), he will advise you as to how to begin your child's journey through Scouting! Your child be invited to attend several meetings at either the Cub or Scout group, where they can decide if Scouting is for them.

Only once they have shown their enthusiasm to join, will you need to purchase a uniform from the Scout Shop in Bramley (see our Uniform section for more information). Your child will then be invested as either a Scout or Cub.

Please contact one of the following people for more information:

Fees

Our annual membership fee covers all Cub or Scout meetings, and includes the annual fee (capitation) paid to Scouts South Africa to secure national membership. This fee does not include additional activities such as camps and hikes, which may attract additional costs.

Should your child join after the beginning of the financial year (Jan-December), you will be billed on a pro-rata basis for the fees, but the capitation must be paid in full. For more information, please contact our treasurer, Mark Goulding, on finance@rivertrail.co.za.
